Jesus Isn't Intimidated by Your Darkness!

by Becca Froese

All of us have places in our hearts that can feel a little dark at times—but the good news is Jesus isn't intimidated by our darkness!

Even when the inside of us feels messy and confusing and sinful and hard, we can be at rest because He already knows, and His love for us hasn’t changed. He sees everything, and the darkness is “as light” to Him.

I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night—
but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are the same to you. (Ps. 139:11–12 NLT)

The light of God transforms everything it touches. No matter how broken you feel today, God is right here to pour His light on you.

How God Is Like a Watchmaker

I frequently picture God as a watchmaker who can see all the intricate inner workings of our hearts.

He understands what’s going on inside us, and He always knows what to do. He knows how to fix us and how to move each piece so it ends up where it needs to be.

Our mess doesn’t scare Him away! He knows exactly what’s broken inside us, how it broke in the first place, and how to make us “run” the way He created us to run. A watch that works.

The Power of God’s LIGHT

When we expose ourselves to His light and choose to walk with Him in that light, we can’t NOT be changed. There’s just no way. The watch starts ticking again in the watchmaker’s hands, just as He knew it would.

His light does it all. We don’t have to go in, fix ourselves up, scrub out the darkness, and make ourselves “good enough” to be in His light. It’s so much easier than that—as soon as we step into His light and rest there, His light begins its transforming work in our hearts.

We don’t have to be perfect—we get to come as we are into the light of His presence, and in that place He’ll transform us.

Even if YOU’RE intimidated by what you’ve seen inside you, He is not!

Even if you’re saying, “Ahhh! I don’t know what’s happening! I keep making the same bad decisions and the same wrong choices,” God knows exactly what’s going on.

And He isn’t afraid. He loves you and treasures you so much, and He wants to shower you with His light.

May your eyes be opened to the light of God in spectacular ways!

I just want to say thank you for this simple blog! It really helps my heart because i feel so garbled at times inside and my first thought is to run around and fix myelf! But God is light and all we have to do is step into that and let Him be who He is. He is a good Father.
